BEYOND SA K PASE

About Beyond Sa k pase: Cultural Authenticity Consulting and Services for Media Professionals ( Writers, Directors & Producers)

Two landscapes of need , met with one continuous bridge of work.

In Haiti

Poverty and food insecurity

Rural poverty exceeds 74%. Over 5.7M face acute food insecurity; food inflation near 37% in early 2025.

Social unrest and insecurity

With active public protests, riots, or collective disruption.

Healthcare collapse

Less than 40% of Port-au-Prince health facilities are fully functional. Medicine and supplies frequently scarce.

Water, sanitation and disease

Up to half the population lacks safe drinking water. A persistent cholera outbreak has tens of thousands of cases.

Education disruption

Over 1,600 schools closed in 2024–2025 alone, denying education to hundreds of thousands of children.

Infrastructure deficits

Chronic electricity shortages, damaged roads, housing shortages, and weak telecommunications compound every crisis.

Disaster vulnerability

Each new disaster compounds existing crises rather than being met with resilient systems.

Governance and institutional fragility

Decades of instability and weak institutions have left the state unable to reliably deliver basic services, security, or justice.

Human rights and access to justice

Impunity, a broken justice system, and threats to journalists and civil society leave Haitians with little recourse.

Children, youth and women vulnerability

Haitian youth faces interrupted education, displacement, including gender based trafficking risks.

Stalled economic progress and innovation

Chronic instability has discouraged investment, stunted small business growth, and starved Haiti’s tech sector of the infrastructure and funding it needs.

Underdeveloped sport and athletic infrastructure

Despite deep passion for sport, especially football, Haiti lacks safe facilities, youth leagues, and pathways to compete internationally.

In the diaspora

Discriminatory immigration and legal status insecurity

Haitian migrants face harshe immigration treatment and rely on fragile pathways to legal status, leaving them vulnerable to sudden policy shifts.

Racial and ethnic discrimination

Haitian immigrants generally face compounded discrimination of both anti-immigrant and anti-Black aboard.

Credential & capital gaps

Barriers to economic advancement and innovation. License recognition gaps block trained professionals; limited capital and credit constrain diaspora entrepreneurs.

Barriers to systemic integration

Language barriers and lack of navigational resources limit access to education, healthcare, finance, and opportunity.

Limited access to mental health and trauma-informed care

Displacement and migration trauma go largely unaddressed, with few culturally competent providers available.

Underdeveloped professional and civic networks

Formal mentorship pipelines, industry associations, and civic-political pathways remain limited relative to Haitian diaspora communities’ size.

Language and generational gaps

Younger Haitian-descent generations often struggle to maintain connection to haitian language, culture, and heritage abroad.

Underrepresentation in influence and decision-making

Haitian voices remain underrepresented in media, journalism, publishing, entertainment, athletics administration, and other institutions that shape public narrative and policy.

Cultural misrepresentation and stereotyping

The only few time they are represented, Haitian culture, language, and identity are just misrepresented or stereotyped in media and popular culture, fueling public misunderstanding and stigma.

Our Initiatives

A manifesto of actions to replace the crisis narrative with a vision of untapped potential.
